Tour of the Taverns – AKA Nick Edwards’s Pub Crawl
On Thursday 15th June, some 50 Brethren from across Bedfordshire, travelled down to London, to learn about the History of Freemasonry – or that’s what we told our wives, the real reason was to go on a Pub Crawl around London - hic. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day. We were guided around the Cities of Westminster and London, by two very knowledgeable and amusing guides. Who entertained us with stories about Freemasonry, the churches, places and pubs we visited.
This is where it all started 300 years ago....were these three there on 24th June 1717??
Enjoying ourselves at the Bavarian Bierkeller!
After our 4-hour stroll around London, we rounded off the afternoon with a meal at a Bavarian Bierkeller, near Liverpool Street. Where we swapped stories, ate wursts, schnitzel, sauerkraut, chips and drank Steins of Beer – well what else do you do in a Bierkeller??? -a good time was had by all - but there were a few sore heads on Friday morning!!!.
Sadly we were unable to accommodate all those who wanted to attend, so we hope to run another “Cultural Afternoon”, probably on a Saturday to accommodate those who work, in the autumn. Please contact the Provincial Office if you would like to put your name on the list to attend this “fun afternoon”.
Our PGM thanking those who organised the "cultural" day out
