Cheque Presentation Evening donates £62,276
On Friday 9 March the Province held its Annual Charity Cheque Presentation evening at Luton Masonic Centre.
A total of forty one charities were invited and there were representatives from twenty seven lodges and five chapters present. In total approximately one hundred and forty people were present.
The evening was started by the Provincial Charity Steward, Worshipful Brother Martin Wilson, who welcomed everyone to Luton and went on to introduce the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother Anthony P Henderson. The Provincial Grand Master gave the audience an overview of the evening and went on to explain how important it was to the Freemasons that they were able to help charities in the way that they did and also stressed that all of the money came from themselves as they didn’t go about fund raising on street corners as other organisation did.
The Provincial Charity Steward then explained the format of the presentations and each Charity was invited to come and receive their cheque from the Lodge representatives that had donated the monies. The representatives from the Charities gave a brief talk as to how the money would be used.
At the end of the presentations the Provincial Grand Master summarised the evening and asked the Provincial Grand Charity Steward to reveal the amount that had been given to the charities present. The amount was £62,246 which was greeted by loud applause.
